Packaging for flowers and plants. Packly responded to the green call from Earth Day with this original packaging.

Packaging for flowers and plants. In this crucial decade for saving the planet and on the occasion of Earth Day, we at Packly decided to create an inspirational box.

The role of flowers and plants for the future of our planet

Plants are a focal point in the political agenda of leaders around the world. In the design of city spaces or buildings, green becomes key both to lower the level of CO2 in the air and to embellish the metropolitan skyline. The main example is the famous vertical forest in Milan. Even the packaging world takes up this challenge to sustainability, not only in the choice of materials but as a real second line of defense for nature.

Format chosen for packaging flowers and plants

Packly has chosen to create an original cardboard box consisting of two elements. We have a standard tray that slides inside an open end box. The latter can be reused as a real vase.

Strengths for this packaging

1. Versatile format: the simplicity of the elements makes them suitable for containing several types of plants.

2. Elegant graphics: We used a floral embellished classy design. It could work very well for cosmetics too.

3. Sustainability: The packaging created by Packly was produced using 60% of energy from renewable sources. Packly is committed to reaching 100% and becoming CO2 free by 2030.
The cardboard and inks for digital printing used by Packly are certified for compostability, both domestic and industrial. The materials have been certified by TUV Austria (“OK Compost Home” and “OK Compost Industrial”) so that the packaging can be recovered through composting and biodegradation in accordance with the most important standards, such as the EU regulation EN 13432.2.

4. Creative reuse: this prototype can turn into a vase for the flower it contains, but it’s suitable for numerous other repurposing ideas, such as a penholder or a practical pocket emptier.
